  • Pseudorapidity and transverse momentum dependence of flow harmonics in p Pb and PbPb collisions
Measurements of azimuthal angular correlations are presented for high-multiplicity p Pb collisions at √{sNN}=5.02TeV and peripheral PbPb collisions at √{s NN}=2.76 TeV . The data used in this work were collected with the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

  • Pristine dwarf galaxy survey - I. A detailed photometric and spectroscopic study of the very metal-poor Draco II satellite
We present a detailed study of the faint Milky Way satellite Draco II (Dra II) from deep CFHT/MegaCam broad-band g and i photometry and narrow-band metallicity-sensitive CaHK observations, along with follow-up Keck II/DEIMOS multi-object spectroscopy. Forward modelling of the deep photometry allows us to refine the structural and photometric

  • Predicting Space Weathering Effects on Primitive Asteroids (101955) Bennu and (162173) Ryugu
Two sample-return missions, OSIRIS-REx and Hayabusa 2, have just arrived at primitive near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) (101955) Bennu and (162173) Ryugu, and it is of interest to predict the effects of space weathering on their surfaces. Most spacecraft-accessible NEAs originate in the inner asteroid belt, and these two sample-return targets most likely

  • Optical identification of the binary companion to the millisecond PSR J2302+4442 with the Gran Telescopio Canarias
We report detection of the binary companion to the millisecond pulsar J2302+4442 based on the deep observations performed with the Gran Telescopio Canarias. The observations revealed an optical source with r' = 23.33 ± 0.02 and i' = 23.08 ± 0.02, whose position coincides with the pulsar radio position. By comparing the source colour and magnitudes

  • Opening PANDORA's box: APEX observations of CO in PNe
Context. Observations of molecular gas have played a key role in developing the current understanding of the late stages of stellar evolution. Aims: The survey Planetary nebulae AND their cO Reservoir with APEX (PANDORA) was designed to study the circumstellar shells of evolved stars with the aim to estimate their physical parameters. • On the shape and evolution of a cosmic-ray-regulated galaxy-wide stellar initial mass function
In this paper, we present a new derivation of the shape and evolution of the integrated galaxy-wide initial mass function (IGIMF), incorporating explicitly the effects of cosmic rays (CRs) as regulators of the chemical and thermal state of the gas in the dense cores of molecular clouds. We predict the shape of the IGIMF as a function of star
