  • Abundances, Stellar Parameters, and Spectra from the SDSS-III/APOGEE Survey
The SDSS-III/Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE) survey operated from 2011–2014 using the APOGEE spectrograph, which collects high-resolution (R ∼ 22,500), near-IR (1.51–1.70 μm) spectra with a multiplexing (300 fiber-fed objects) capability. We describe the survey data products that are publicly available, which include

  • 5 – 14 μm Spitzer spectra of primitive asteroid families
Compositional studies of primitive asteroid families provide constraints on the physical and chemical environment of the solar nebula and the evolution of the asteroid belt. Spectroscopic studies in the visible and near-infrared have shown spectral diversity between primitive families. Our goal is to better constrain the composition of two

  • Where are the solar magnetic poles?
Regardless of the physical origin of stellar magnetic fields - fossil or dynamo induced - an inclination angle between the magnetic and rotation axes is very often observed. Absence of observational evidence in this direction in the solar case has led to generally assume that its global magnetic field and rotation axes are well aligned. We present

  • Very high-energy γ-ray observations of novae and dwarf novae with the MAGIC telescopes
Context. In the last five years the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) instrument detected GeV γ-ray emission from five novae. The GeV emission can be interpreted in terms of an inverse Compton process of electrons accelerated in a shock. In this case it is expected that protons in the same conditions can be accelerated to much higher energies

  • Tracing kinematic (mis)alignments in CALIFA merging galaxies. Stellar and ionized gas kinematic orientations at every merger stage
We present spatially resolved stellar and/or ionized gas kinematic properties for a sample of 103 interacting galaxies, tracing all merger stages: close companions, pairs with morphological signatures of interaction, and coalesced merger remnants. In order to distinguish kinematic properties caused by a merger event from those driven by internal

  • The warm molecular gas and dust of Seyfert galaxies: two different phases of accretion?
The distribution of warm molecular gas (1000-3000 K), traced by the near-IR H2 2.12 μm line, has been imaged with a resolution
